A Poconos of Pennsylvania native, Joel Proffit currently resides in one of the most beautiful places in the world: Cody, Wyoming; the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Living in this outdoor mecca, Joel has been blessed with numerous opportunities to hunt elk, mule deer, white tail, and antelope in a landscape far different than the Eastern whitetail woods of his youth. A former pastor, music director, and current business owner, he has sought to use every involvement as an opportunity to point others to Christ. The outdoors has been no exception as he has used the outdoors as a means to share the Gospel with others who have the same passions. Not only has this led him to be heavily involved in a Christian, non-profit, youth organization called Polestar Outdoors, but also in organizing sportsman’s retreats and wild game dinners, designing and writing Gospel tracts geared specifically for the outdoors, speaking at outdoor events, and creating videos for churches and organizations to use as they seek to reach those in the outdoors with the Gospel. He has been published in Elk Hunter and Western Hunter magazines, and been involved in several video productions for Polestar Outdoors and “The Best of the West” show on The Sportsman’s Channel. He considers hunting for elk in the back-country as his favorite type of outdoor adventure.
